NAHS service opportunity

Do you need NAHS service hours?

You can make CUPS for the judges at the Regional Scholastic Art Awards!

There will be 18 judges (3 in each category). They are not being paid for their time, but deserve a "thank you" for all of their hard work and time... what better way than to gift them with a hand-made cup by a Lakeridge student??

If you think you can help out, contact Amy ASAP. Cups will need to be finished by Dec. 10th.

In this hands-on workshop, artists Derek Welch and Jason Bacon share the approach to storytelling they use to create characters for their toy design company UNKL. Imagine a character and sculpt it during class to take home.
Workshop: $35. Advance registration required and available online. Limit 12 participants. For ages 18 and up.

Workshop Opportunity

Don Sprague will be conducting a workshop at Chemeketa Community College on November 14th and 15th from 9am to 4pm. Originally the workshop was going to be $50, but now it will be FREE!!!

AP 3-D Retreat Success!

The AP 3-D retreat at Menucha was better than I could've hoped! Every one of my students helped to make it great. We all made interesting artwork, built friendships and had a wonderful time playing outside in the sun! Our guest artist, JacobTietze, was also A-MA-ZING!

Each one of the videos has a theme that is explored by several artists. Many of the artists use sculptural media to express their thoughts. The thing that I think is really cool is that the producers are really interested in showing the processes that the artists use and spend time with the artists while they are working and talking about their ideas.

AP 3-D Retreat this Weekend!

Our AP 3-D Retreat is this weekend:

You will need to bring:

• Sketchbook
• Sleeping bag & pillow (I have asked them not to prepare bedding for us because it costs more $. Everyone will have a bed to sleep on…no one will have to sleep on the floor)
• Towels
• Rain coat or a large plastic bag to wear.
• Hiking shoes
• Alarm clock and a watch (cell service will be spotty)
• Camera
• Main Dish Potluck Item. This is what we are going to be eating while we are there. There are no restaurants that we can dine in. We have a kitchen and we will use it! I will bring Saturday’s breakfast (eggs, bacon, potatoes)
• A snack to share with everyone
• Code of Conduct Form

Local 14 Show this weekend!

Be sure to make time to go to the LOCAL 14 show at the World Forestry Center (same parking lot as the Oregon Zoo) http://www.local14.org/

Over 80 artists in all media will be showing and selling their work.

A-Z Concept Photos due on Friday, Oct. 2

• 26 A-Z pictures to your shared folder.
• 5 best potential sculpture pics posted to your blog.
• ALL pics need to be labeled (example: angst.jpg).
• Have a plan for beginning work on this sculpture. Be ready to show sketches and talk to Amy or classmates about your ideas!

Poster Fundraiser

Poster $ is due on September 30th!!! We have only 6 more days left to raise funds. Remember that this is money that is going to be used to buy our GROOVE -A-LICIOUS Artsy Bunch Poster as well as fund scholarships. It is out only real fundraiser for the year, so it is a requirement that you participate. If you are having "issues" raising your funds, talk with me and I can help you brainstorm some solutions.

Today's Fieldtrip

Had a great time on the fieldtrip with you today! I hope it was an inspiring trip for you and you got some good ideas on putting together a body of work in a cohesive way. On the yellow itinerary, there are two assignments that were to be completed while we were on our trip, however, if you were just WAY too excited about the work at the time, be sure to do it at home in your sketchbook.

• Please be sure to do the write-up for each gallery as well as the reflection on the trip itself.


• Finish taking your A-Z pictures. You might want to label them in your sketchbook so you can remember the concept you were trying to capture. These will be due next Friday.

Lastly, I am very proud of all of you!! I feel that you really represented Lakeridge, our art department and yourselves very well. Thanks guys, you're the best.

Hey Kids!
Welcome to the 2009-2010 AP 3-D Blog!
I am really pumped for the year. You are all talented, hard-working individuals that have dedicated a portion of your life to creating and enjoying art. This blog will become a tool that we will use as a part of the AP 3-D class to help us communicate with each other. Some of the uses might be on-line critiquing, communication of deadlines, sharing our sources of inspiration, and posting our artwork for friends and family to see.

To start with, you will be creating your own blog which will be linked to this one. You will need to check this blog frequently so that you stay up to date on the happenings of the AP 3-D class, National Art Honor Society, and the Ceramics Club!
